Definition –
A
method of broadcasting in which a satellite feed originates on location to
a truck and is transmitted by a geo-synchronous satellite. It is
considered “Broadcast Quality” and is
excellent
for reaching a large audience and connecting people in multiple remote
locations. In fact, the greater the number of sites enrolled, the more
cost-effective it becomes. It can be videotaped and distributed for repeat
and/or on- going information and training efforts. This type of
teleconference is broadcast in various formats- Ku, C-Band & Digital.
It saves travel time and expense but considered less interactive than
video teleconference formats. Interactivity is limited to telephone,
e-mail and fax.
